Museums

The town is extremely proud of its two museums.

The Chaparral Rails to Trails Museum, FM 137 in the heart of downtown, depicts the history of Roxton in artifacts and pictures. The museum pays special tribute to Roxton area veterans, early businesses and families, and its sports heroes. Come enjoy a trip back in time with us.

The Drug Store Museum, also on 137 in the heart of downtown, recreates in minute detail a pharmacy of the 1930's and 40's, displaying thousands of pharmaceutical items, merchandise, advertising pieces, a soda fountain, an early 20th century doctor's office, and optometrist's office. This museum prides itself in the fact that all these items are original to the drug store. It is as if the longtime proprietor J. T. Landers closed for the evening with every intention of opening for business the next morning.

Both museums are open the first Saturday of each month or by special appointment. Check with City Hall for information.
